Indie Luminaries Announce Fund
Have you heard about Indie Fund yet? The big names in indie game development have set it up to create an alternative funding model to big publishers. It’s going to be interesting to see where it goes.
The questions on my mind are:
- What makes them think that they’ll be any better at picking successful games than publishers?
- Who’s going to run it? If they’re spending all their time making the next game, who is reading the applications?
Ron Carmel will be talking about the fund in more detail at GDC, so maybe there’ll be some answers there. Either way the founders are smart people with business experience, so I’m sure they’ve thought about these things. This is a pretty exciting development.
