“Recapturing points gives advance BPs”
This isn’t going to promote farming will it?
Two teleporters, let them take a point, port in turrets and take it back, then leave it again, repeat.

Thanx a lot for the changed icon! :c)

Jake, giving BPs fo recapturing points was something that I’ve thought about for a long time. For the longest time, I didn’t want to do it, since, as you’ve mentioned, it would encourage exploition. The thing that I added was a bit more clever than that though.
You don’t “get” points for capturing. You “borrow” them. Think of it as a loan until you get a brand new point.

No alterations to takeover special?
February 24th, 2010 at 2:32 pm
Brilliant.
Thanks for updating it.

This is awesome! I downloaded it this morning. I have this Idea of having a survival mode in the game. In that mode spawn points should very slowly give you build points, but zombies will be growing in numbers slightly faster than you gain the firepower to deal with it.
Its just a suggestion so don’t take it as a request.

This game is soooo awesome

Jake, I wanted to re-jig the takeover attack, but I just didn’t have enough time. I’d need to code, test and balance it and that would take time away from the port.

Interesting idea, Chris. Sequel maybe?
February 24th, 2010 at 8:18 pm
Like swarm 2! i noticed when all of your guys are dead and you have noteleporters, it keeps going on! please fix!
February 24th, 2010 at 9:54 pm
Yes, the game doesn’t inform you of your inevitable doom. Quite mean of it, really.

Nice game! Kept me up too late.

Hey Alex, is there some way to make a multiplayer version of the game? Like someone is playing the zombies vs. the other person controlling the marines or both marines?
February 26th, 2010 at 11:24 am
That would be fairly hard to do. When I coded the game, I didn’t plan for multiplayer.
February 26th, 2010 at 7:13 pm
Drlemon, can’t you just press ESC and restart the game?
February 26th, 2010 at 7:29 pm
Sweet game, having lots of fun playing it. Is there a way to kill the sound though?
February 26th, 2010 at 8:46 pm
No way to turn off the sound yet.
February 26th, 2010 at 10:55 pm
Yes a sequel will be awesome! Isn’t the hard part of making multiplayer games (with 2+ computers) keeping all the computers in sync?
I also have some Ideas for new buildings and weapons for example the rocket launcher, it deals splash damage but has a slightly shorter range than sniper. The building I was thinking of was a weapons factory, it increases the rate at which you get AP points. They would probably be squeal stuff.
February 26th, 2010 at 11:14 pm
Yes, keeping the game state synchronized is tricky. You have to plan for it from the start.
As for future games, the next couple will probably explore fresh new territory. I’m already working with an artist on the next game – it’s very exciting!

Linux is PC too. I would love a Linux port.
March 10th, 2010 at 8:41 am
It’s something that I’ve thought about, but never really hard the time to do. I don’t have a Linux machine, so I’d need to set everything up first.

Hey, I have a problem: The game works on xp machines elsewhere, as well as vista machines, but my xp machine at home will not show the graphics. Any suggestions?
May 2nd, 2010 at 3:24 pm
Can you be a bit more specific? What do you mean when you say that it doesn’t show the graphics? A screenshot would help.

I get the different mouse when I move over it, I can hear the opening sounds for the indiebird logo, and I can blindly click on the buttons, and hear the sound when they are pressed, but the graphics will not show.
May 3rd, 2010 at 6:24 pm
Hmmm, looks like there’s a problem with loading the textures. What sort of video card do you have?
Also, you should email me at indiebird@indeibird.com; it will be easier to talk that way.

Do you have plans for a map editor soon? I looked at the level data files and noticed that they are simply xml and text files. I was thinking of writing myself a little program to make maps for myself but I figure that would be a waste of time if you were planning a map editor to be released soon. Well that and I don’t know all of the xml tags like for example the upgrade tags.
I just think that a map editor would create a great little community where people could challenge each other with seemingly impossible maps.

Oh and I forgot to say, I think its a great game. So simple yet very addictive.

Hi Plep,
I’m glad that you’re enjoying the game!
I’m not planning to change the version of Zombies that’s out there. I’m busy working on the *secret* project. Most of my energy is going towards finishing that.
That said, this doesn’t mean that you won’t see a map editor sometime. Maybe even sometime soon *wink* *wink*. I agree that it would be awesome to have people trade maps.
I’ll see what I can do. I might be able to squeeze something in. =)
