Zombies Game Gets New Art Style
Over the last week, I’ve overhauled the art style of the zombie game. I felt that the earlier art development was way too complicated and that nobody would see all the work anyway. To deal with this, I simplified the art and made it more scrawly. Here’s a work-in-progress sample:

Edit: I’ve just added the interface art:

Thanks, I’m hoping have the art finished within a few days. Once that’s done, it’ll be sound and gameplay polish.

I like how it looks, it has a Swarm feel to it. You can’t help but feel bad for the marines.
Do you need help making zombie sounds?

Cool, cool! But I have a question. Is it possible to change sprites and sounds by yourself. It lies in open format, like in “Andromeda” for example? In this case people could create they own graphic and sound mod to make game more serious (like people trying to make “Space Hulk” from “Alien Assault” ^_^). By the way, I don’t mind against this style at all.

It should be possible to replace the pictures and sounds with your own custom ones. One thing that will make modding hard is that there are no animated sprites in the game or support for tilesets.

Two more things – It runs really fast on a Core 2 Duo.
It doesn’t play well on a 1024 * 768 screen. Yes, people still have them.

Have a date set yet?

Unfortunately not. I’ve just completed a large overhaul of the combat system – there are flamethrowers now – and things still need to be balanced. I’d say sometime this year is a good guess.

In my defense, the last two weeks have been swallowed up by Dragon Age and the latest Wheel of Time book. Everyone decided to cram all the good games into November some reason.
